NES Open Tournament Golf Overview
NES Open Tournament Golf is a golf simulation for one or two players. The game employs a dual perspective system, combining an overhead map for planning shots and selecting clubs with a three dimensional view for the actual swing execution. A three stage power meter governs the swing, requiring timed button presses to set strength and to influence the ball's lateral spin.
Players compete on a selection of international courses, with the specific available locations differing between hardware versions. The North American release includes three venues, while the Japanese Famicom edition offers a distinct set of five. The NES version supports both stroke and match play formats and features a battery backup for saving progress mid tournament, a function absent from the Famicom release which also omits the dedicated tournament mode.
