Moon Crystal Overview
Moon Crystal is a platform action title for the Nintendo Entertainment System. The player guides protagonist Ricky Slater through seven distinct stages, each culminating in a confrontation with a boss enemy. His objective is to rescue his father, a scientist kidnapped by Count Crimson, who intends to misuse a lunar artifact to reanimate the dead for global domination.
Gameplay involves navigating stages with an initial small knife, which can be enhanced through discovered power-ups. These items can increase attack range, grant extra health, or provide abilities like a double jump. The player begins with three lives and has access to an unlimited number of continues, making the overall difficulty fair.
Notable for its time were the game's fluid character animations and detailed graphic cutscenes that advance the narrative. Although it never saw an official release outside Japan, an unofficial English translation has been produced by fans.
