Little League Baseball Championship Series Overview
Little League Baseball: Championship Series is a sports simulation featuring international competition. Players select from sixteen squads, evenly divided between domestic and foreign clubs from Asia and Europe. A Power Analysis screen provides comparative ratings for key team attributes like hitting and pitching to inform this choice.
Matches are structured as seven-inning contests within a tournament framework. This format applies to both solo play against the computer and two-player competition where each human controls a team in the bracket. Defensive strategy is supported by the option to position fielders using pre-set shifts, which can be deployed against specific threats like pull hitters.
On-field mechanics offer control for both batting and pitching. Batters can adjust their stance in the box, choose when to swing, and execute bunts. Pitchers have access to fastballs and changeups, with the added ability to curve the ball laterally. Defensive players can be directed to dive or jump to attempt catches.
The title originated in Japan under the name Kōshien, where its initial release exclusively included Japanese teams.
