"Fist of the North Star" is an NES platform action game adapted from the Hokuto no Ken anime. While the manual provides a narrative about the protagonist Kenshirou opposing Emperor Heaven, this story is not present during gameplay.
The experience is built around navigating levels under a time constraint, where players primarily engage enemies with punches and kicks. Defeated foes are often launched away or explode. Exploration can reveal hidden areas and power-ups, and larger boss encounters occur periodically.
A separate VS. mode allows for direct combat against a sequence of bosses from the initial stages. This title is the second in its series, with the first installment remaining exclusive to Japan.
