Q Billion Overview
Q Billion is a puzzle game for the Game Boy where the player controls a mouse tasked with flattening a field of stacked tiles. The core challenge involves manipulating adjacent stacks so that no tile remains atop another, requiring the mouse to push individual tiles to create stepping stones and redistribute blocks. This process demands careful planning, as the character can only move one tile at a time, often necessitating complex sequences to manage stacks of different heights.
The gameplay is challenging, rooted in a spatial logic style reminiscent of Japanese puzzle games like Sokoban. Later stages introduce additional complexity with special tiles marked by symbols like hearts or stars; these must be grouped in sets of four to be cleared from the playfield, adding a layer of strategic grouping to the spatial problem-solving. No special tiles can remain to complete a stage.
Beyond the main puzzle mode, the game includes a timed mode with pre-constructed challenges and a level editor for creating custom puzzles.
