Lingo Overview
Lingo is a video game based on a television game show that was broadcast in several European countries. The core activity involves two teams attempting to deduce five-letter words, with the first letter always provided as a starting clue. Guesses are evaluated by marking correct letters in the correct position with a square and correct letters in the wrong position with a circle.
A challenging time limit of thirty seconds is imposed for each guess. If a team cannot identify the word within five attempts, play passes to the opponent. Should both teams fail, an extra letter of the target word is revealed before the next round.
Successfully guessing a word allows a team to draw balls from a basin. Different colored balls have distinct effects: red balls immediately end the turn, while green balls contribute to a cumulative bonus if three are collected. Numbered blue balls are used to mark a bingo-style card, and completing lines on this card provides additional rewards.
The cartridge includes multiple language versions with corresponding word lists, supporting English, Dutch, French, and German. The second team can be played by either another human or a computer-controlled opponent.
