X-Men: Mutant Wars Overview
X-Men: Mutant Wars is a side-scrolling beat-'em-up featuring a roster of X-Men such as Wolverine, Storm, and Cyclops. Players battle through levels populated by hostile mutants, mechanical threats, and major adversaries like Magneto.
A defining system allows for character switching at any point, which is tied to resource management. As a character fights, their power level diminishes, but swapping them out lets that character recover while another enters the fray. This management is challenging, as specific character abilities are required to progress past certain obstacles.
Beyond the primary campaign, an alternate mode focuses exclusively on boss encounters. This version introduces a permanent consequence: if a character's power is fully depleted, they become unavailable for the remainder of that session.
