Disney's 102 Dalmatians: Puppies to the Rescue is a Game Boy Color platformer presented in a 2D side-scrolling format. The player controls either Domino or Oddball, two Dalmatian puppies on a mission to rescue their kin from Cruella De Vil, who intends to use them for a coat.
Progress through a level involves navigating the environment to locate a key, which is then used to open cages containing the captive puppies. Once every puppy in a stage is freed, the player receives a password to advance. The primary obstacles are enemy toys that patrol the areas; contact with them causes damage. A temporary defensive option is available, as the puppy can use its bark to briefly stun these foes.
