Tom & Jerry for the Game Boy Color is a 2D game where the player controls Jerry in a race against Tom. The objective is to locate and rescue Tuffy before the cat can find him.
Movement through each stage is directed toward a goal, with progression requiring the avoidance of enemies and obstacles, as Jerry cannot defeat them. Points are earned by collecting cheeses and medals during this navigation. Upon completing a level, a bonus mini-game becomes available.
The experience offers both single-player and two-player modes, with an option to disable the music. Access to specific levels is controlled by a password system, requiring players to input the correct codes.
