Super Mario Advance 3 : Yoshi's Island Overview
Super Mario Advance 3: Yoshi's Island is a handheld adaptation of a Super Nintendo platformer. The core objective involves guiding Yoshi, who carries Baby Mario, through themed worlds to rescue the kidnapped Baby Luigi from Kamek and Baby Bowser.
Levels require more than simply reaching the end. A high completion score depends on locating hidden flowers and red coins while protecting Baby Mario from being captured. Yoshi's primary actions include running, jumping, and a midair flutter. A central mechanic is consuming enemies to produce eggs, which are then thrown to attack, solve puzzles, or collect out-of-reach items.
The game incorporates transformation sequences where Yoshi becomes vehicles like a helicopter or submarine to traverse specific areas. Boss encounters conclude each world, testing the player's skill with Yoshi's abilities and egg-throwing. The overall pacing is fair, balancing exploration with these action-oriented challenges.
This Game Boy Advance version adds six new secret levels, one per world, and features updated audio and slight design tweaks for the portable system. As part of the Super Mario Advance series, the cartridge also includes the classic arcade game Mario Bros. as a separate mode, playable alone or via link cable.
