Gyakuten Saiban Overview
Gyakuten Saiban is structured around four distinct legal cases. The player controls Ryuuichi Naruhodou, a newly qualified defense attorney, with the objective of proving a client's innocence by identifying the true criminal.
Gameplay alternates between two primary modes. Outside the courtroom, investigation sequences involve moving between locations, speaking with characters, and examining environments to gather evidence and information. This preparatory work is essential for the subsequent trial phases.
During trials, the core activity is analyzing witness testimonies. The player can question witnesses on specific statements to elicit further details or can present collected evidence to contradict a statement. Successfully exposing inconsistencies forces the testimony to evolve, gradually revealing the facts of the case.
The judge will penalize incorrect assertions, such as presenting unrelated evidence. Accumulating too many penalties results in an immediate guilty verdict for the defendant, making the trial process challenging.
