Gyakuten Saiban 2 Overview
Gyakuten Saiban 2 is a courtroom simulation and adventure game for the Game Boy Advance. Players assume the role of defense attorney Phoenix Wright, who takes on four new cases set approximately one year after his earlier adventures.
The core gameplay involves two primary phases. Outside the courtroom, evidence is gathered and witnesses are interviewed. During trials, the player must cross-examine testimony, identify contradictions, and present relevant evidence to challenge false statements. The game introduces a system called Psyche Locks, which visually manifest when a character is concealing a significant secret; breaking these requires presenting a series of correct pieces of evidence to make them talk.
Progression can be challenging, as incorrect assertions during a trial now deplete a soul energy meter instead of a fixed health bar, with some errors costing more than others. The interface supports stylus-based navigation for menus and inventory, similar to a DS version. An optional feature allows players to use the microphone to verbally interrupt proceedings with phrases like "OBJECTION!" during key moments.
