Players control multiple prehistoric characters across scrolling levels, each with a specific goal. Success requires switching control between individuals to coordinate their actions, making teamwork a central mechanic. Objectives often involve locating items like weapons or utilizing discovered tools to reach a destination.
A time limit applies to each stage, introducing a challenging element. If time expires, the level must be attempted again from the beginning.
