King’s Table The Legend of Ragnarok Overview
This DOS adaptation presents a strategic board game with a Norse theme, where two opposing sides have distinct objectives and piece compositions. The white force consists of thirteen units, including Odin as its central figure, while black commands twenty pawns alongside four additional pieces.
Victory conditions are asymmetrical: white succeeds by moving Odin to any board corner, whereas black wins by completely surrounding him on four adjacent squares. Movement and capture mechanics blend familiar chess concepts with unique rules, as pawns possess the mobility of queens but pieces are generally taken by flanking them on two sides.
Players select special pieces at the outset, which introduce varied abilities and require a three-sided surround for capture. The visual presentation employs three-dimensional graphics and animated sequences, creating a style reminiscent of other contemporary chess-based games.
