ROX Overview
ROX is a DOS game where the player controls a lunar module tasked with defending a planetary base. The primary threat comes from falling meteors, referred to as ROX, which must be destroyed before impact.
Gameplay involves using the module's rockets, which fire in three fixed directions, to intercept these incoming objects. The player also has a limited number of emergency measures, described as panics, that can clear the screen of meteors. Periodically, a larger mothership target appears and must be eliminated.
The experience begins with a landing sequence requiring careful use of thrusters to reach the planet's surface. Failure occurs if meteors strike the base directly or cause sufficient terrain damage to trigger a catastrophic earthquake, making the overall task challenging.
