NHL ’94 Overview
NHL '94 is a DOS ice hockey simulation that integrates both league and players association licenses for the first time. This allows it to represent all twenty six professional teams and their rosters from that season.
Its gameplay introduced significant changes, such as the one timer shot for offensive play. Defensive capabilities were also enhanced with more forceful body checking animations. Notably, the option for manual goalkeeper control presents a challenging layer of management. The removal of fighting from prior editions shifts the focus toward other mechanics.
Available game modes consist of exhibition matches, playoff series, and a new shoot out option. Core settings let users adjust period length, manage line changes through several methods, and toggle penalties. While other contemporary versions offered features like stat tracking or enhanced audio, the PC release was distinguished by its inclusion of a complete season mode.
