Major Stryker Overview
Major Stryker is a vertical scrolling shooter released as shareware by Apogee, featuring EGA graphics. The player controls a ship tasked with battling waves of Kreton aliens across multiple stages.
Gameplay involves rescuing hostages while engaging enemies with a primary beam weapon. This weapon can be upgraded through six distinct levels, though taking damage resets it to its basic state. For more dire situations, a limited supply of screen clearing zap bombs is available.
Level progression is punctuated by boss encounters against Kreton leaders every two stages. These larger foes require the player to target specific weak points repeatedly to be defeated. Various power ups, represented by letters, and temporary shields can be collected to aid in the mission.
