Flying Tigers II Overview
Flying Tigers II is a vertical scrolling shoot 'em up where the player controls an advanced aircraft called the Flying Tiger. The objective is to survive each stage while combating waves of enemy planes and other threats.
Enemy forces include standard aircraft, large boss units encountered every four levels, and environmental hazards like steel zeppelins, warships, and volcanoes. The setting involves flight over both sea and land, with ground installations present that can be destroyed.
Gameplay involves collecting colored power up items. Yellow items alter the primary machine gun weapon, while blue items provide secondary armaments such as lasers, missiles, or napalm. These power ups can be shot to cycle their contained weapon type, and collecting them also provides a minor health restoration.
A point bonus is awarded at the end of each level based on the number of enemy planes and structures destroyed. The player's role is to oppose a group of techno terrorists aiming to eliminate all Flying Tigers craft.
