Fatty Bear’s Birthday Surprise Overview
Fatty Bear's Birthday Surprise is a children's adventure game built on a modified SCUMM engine, the system first created for Maniac Mansion. Ron Gilbert served as Project Leader, Producer, Co-Designer, and contributed to the interpreter programming for this title.
The core objective involves preparing a surprise party for a girl named Kayla. The player, as Fatty Bear, completes various preparatory tasks such as locating cake ingredients and assembling the cake, finding letters for a birthday sign, and inflating balloons. The experience is designed to be easy for its target audience of three to eight year olds.
Interactive elements extend beyond the main adventure, incorporating minigames including bowling and piano activities.
