Dungeon Keeper Overview

Alt. Names: DK1, Dungeon Keeper: Evil is Good, ダンジョンキーパー, 地下城守护者, 地城守護者

Dungeon Keeper is a strategy and building simulation where the player assumes the role of an underworld overlord. The core objective is to expand a domain by conquering territories held by opposing forces of good, a process that unfolds across a campaign. This expansion is supported by a multiplayer option for competitive play involving up to four participants.

Gameplay revolves around managing a subterranean complex. Excavation reveals gold, a resource required to maintain a workforce of monstrous creatures. These minions have specific needs, and constructing specialized rooms influences their recruitment and contentment. A satisfied creature remains loyal, while mistreatment through punishment can yield short-term benefits at the risk of rebellion or loss. The central dungeon heart is a critical structure that must be defended.

Strategic depth is further enhanced by magical research. Attracting certain specialist creatures enables the study of potent spells for the player's use. The interface provides a fully rotatable three-dimensional view with adjustable lighting. A distinctive feature allows direct control of individual creatures, seeing the environment from their perspective and utilizing their unique skills.
