Twilight: 2000 Overview
Twilight: 2000 is a tactical wargame with adventure elements, adapted from a tabletop role-playing system. Its setting is a devastated Poland in the late 1990s, following a prolonged and destructive conflict between NATO and Warsaw Pact forces that has left the landscape contaminated and littered with military wreckage.
Players manage a squad of twenty soldiers, each procedurally generated with distinct personalities that influence how they follow commands. Individual capabilities, including specific skills and languages, can be defined during creation. Gameplay is split between a top-down perspective for exterior movement and a 3D view for operating inside vehicles, with both modes demanding careful strategic use of the available arsenal and equipment.
The primary objective involves thwarting the ambitions of Baron Czarny, who seeks to control the remnants of the nation. Interaction with non-player characters is possible through an integrated communication system, which can provide assistance. The need to coordinate a diverse team while planning around varied combat scenarios makes the experience challenging.
