Discworld II: Mortality Bytes! returns to the setting of the first game, with its protagonist Rincewind facing a metaphysical crisis. The absence of Death, who is on vacation, has disrupted the natural order, leaving souls in limbo and threatening Rincewind with an unwanted eternal existence.
Progress is made by navigating numerous locations and solving a variety of obstacles. The player advances primarily through character dialogue and the use of inventory items. The experience is structured across four distinct acts.
Similar to its predecessor, the game incorporates a unique comedic tone throughout its adventure.
