Dark Seed 2 Overview
The player controls Mike Dawson, who is attempting to clear his name after becoming the main suspect in a murder. The investigation requires navigating two distinct realities: the Normal World and a nightmarish Dark World, with a combined total of seventy five pre rendered locations. Interaction with forty characters and the environment is managed through a point and click interface, where the right mouse button cycles between modes for movement, actions, and dialogue.
This adventure game is a direct sequel, with the protagonist still suffering from the psychological effects of a prior ordeal involving beings called the Ancients. The central narrative conflict involves proving his innocence in the death of a former romantic partner, Rita, while his own memory of the key events is unreliable. The visual design, crucial to the horror atmosphere, is based on the work of H.R. Giger.
Gameplay involves gathering evidence and items across both worlds to achieve two primary objectives. The player must work to defeat the Dark World's ruler, known as the Behemoth, and also address a pervasive corruption affecting the normal reality. The game interface primarily shows the full location, with inventory and menu options appearing as needed.
