CyberMage: Darklight Awakening Overview
CyberMage: Darklight Awakening is a first-person shooter set in a corporate-dominated Earth of 2044. The player controls a resurrected hero who, after a life-saving experiment, gains a crystal in his forehead that grants control over a force called Darklight. His journey involves escaping a lab, understanding this power and its alien origins, and facing a villain named NeCrom who also wields it.
Gameplay involves navigating dark futuristic environments, which include cities and war zones, sometimes using vehicles like tanks. Players combat foes using conventional weapons and ranged Darklight powers, the latter consuming a regenerating energy resource called Mann-Ra. Defeated organic enemies release souls that can be collected for temporary or permanent upgrades to health and Mann-Ra capacity, with armor and other items also available to find.
Interaction with the world includes operating switches and conversing with friendly characters who provide information. Currency found in levels can be spent at gun shops. The control scheme allows for customization between mouse and keyboard input, supporting actions like jumping and vertical looking.
