RPM Racing Overview
RPM Racing is a top down racing game where vehicle performance is affected by surface types like pavement, dirt, and ice. Tracks are not flat, making traction and shock absorbers important factors alongside combat using items such as mines, oil slicks, and nitro boosts. Players select from three vehicle types and can upgrade components including tires, engines, shocks, and armor across three levels.
The game offers multiple modes, including a full season, single races, and a custom track builder. In single player, one competes against eight AI opponents, each with a distinct vehicle. A total of 128 tracks are available across the game. The season mode operates on an economic system where each race requires an entry fee and awards cash prizes, primarily for first place. Players can pay to advance to higher racing classes with greater fees and rewards, or return to a lower class for free if funds run low.
Track creation allows for extensive customization. Using a grid based system similar to puzzle pieces, builders place straight sections, 90 degree turns, T junctions, and crossovers, assigning each section a surface type. Additional settings include lap count, gravity, and the configuration of the starting line.
