Eye of the Beholder is a first-person role-playing game that utilizes the Advanced Dungeons & Dragons 2nd Edition framework. Its narrative begins with a party of adventurers hired by Waterdeep's rulers to explore a sinister presence beneath the city, only to become trapped in the subterranean depths.
Gameplay involves navigating a dungeon environment filled with hostile creatures and environmental hazards. The player manages a core group of four characters, with the potential to recruit two additional non-player companions during the adventure. Interaction, including combat and spellcasting, is handled through a point-and-click interface and occurs in real time.
