Volfied Overview
Volfied is a Sega Genesis title where the player controls a ship that must reclaim territory from a playfield. This is accomplished by moving along the edges of uncleared space to cut out shapes, which gradually reveals an underlying image. The core objective is to remove at least eighty percent of the screen area, with extra percentage points contributing to the score.
Gameplay is challenging due to hostile elements that patrol the screen. Contact with these enemies is hazardous, and the player's ship relies on a temporary protective shield when not actively cutting sections away. The environment also features barriers that restrict where new borders can be formed.
Strategic depth is added through collectible power-ups found within certain screen blocks. These can provide various temporary advantages, such as increased movement speed, freezing enemies, or halting the shield's depletion. Others grant offensive capabilities like a laser for smaller foes or a specific weapon needed to defeat the level's boss.
Each stage concludes with a confrontation against a unique boss and its minions, continuing the narrative of a ship returning to its invaded home world. The game supports one or two players across multiple difficulty settings and includes numerous levels, though progress cannot be saved with passwords.
