Sonic – Code Gray Overview
Sonic – Code Gray is a 2D side-scrolling platformer. The player controls Sonic, who navigates levels containing springs, loop-the-loops, and slopes at high speed. Hazards include robots, which are optional to destroy, as well as environmental dangers like spikes, crushing mechanisms, and bottomless pits.
Gold rings serve a dual purpose: collecting one hundred grants an extra life, and holding any provides protection from most enemy collisions. When hit with rings, they are scattered and can be reclaimed briefly before vanishing; being hit without any results in losing a life. Additional protective items like shields and temporary invincibility can be found, though some threats like drowning, crushing, or falling remain instantly fatal regardless.
Sonic's primary offensive move is the Spin Attack, executed by jumping or pressing down while moving. This rotating ball form damages enemies and certain obstacles upon impact. The game presents a challenging environment where players must also manage air supply by using bubbles released from vents to avoid drowning.
