Soldiers of Fortune Overview
Soldiers of Fortune is an overhead perspective shooter where players navigate a series of open-air environments. The setting is a Britain transformed into a mechanical battleground, a consequence of the Chaos Engine, an artificial intelligence that rebelled after being built with future knowledge.
Players select from a roster of six distinct mercenaries, each with unique attributes and costs. The game supports a solo mode where an AI companion controls a second character, capable of independent actions like collecting items and engaging enemies. For two players, the experience shifts to cooperative play.
The structure consists of sixteen levels divided into four distinct groups. Gameplay involves moving through these maps, which feature terrain like rivers and bridges, while confronting hostile forces. The visual presentation utilizes a metallic color scheme with prominent blue tones.
