Sesame Street: Counting Cafe is an educational title where players assume the role of Grover as a waiter. The core task involves fulfilling food orders for a customer named Mr. Johnson, requiring the collection of specific items from the kitchen.
Correct orders are rewarded with a star, while incorrect items must be cleared. This is done by taking them to Cookie Monster, who disposes of them. The structure is divided into five meal periods: Breakfast, Brunch, Lunch, Dinner, and Dessert.
Completing all meals triggers a brief chase sequence where a monkey steals the final star, which Grover must recover to advance. After the initial day, other Sesame Street characters appear in the kitchen, sometimes interfering by accidentally placing unwanted items on Grover's tray. This can force a reset of the current order, making the task fair but introducing an element of unpredictability.
