Pat Riley Basketball Overview
Pat Riley Basketball presents a simulation of the sport from a scrolling sideline perspective. The game features eight teams based in major American cities, which can compete in either Exhibition or Tournament formats, including a two player option. Three distinct skill levels are available to adjust the challenge.
Strategic depth is introduced through defensive settings, allowing a choice between zone and man to man coverage before a game. This tactical decision can be revisited after each quarter or during a timeout. While physical fouls are not part of the simulation, the traveling violation is enforced.
Certain key moments shift to a dedicated three dimensional view for closer interaction. Both tip offs and attempts at slam dunks use this perspective, requiring players to rapidly press the B button. During dunk sequences, it is occasionally possible for defensive players to intervene and block the shot.
