Solomon's Key Overview
Solomon's Key is a platform game where the player must retrieve a key to unlock the level exit. This objective is pursued within a time limit, making the pacing challenging. Progression relies on a magic wand that manipulates the environment by creating and removing blocks, though certain blocks are indestructible.
Enemies patrol the stages and contact results in losing a life. The player can eliminate some foes by destroying the blocks beneath them, while others must simply be avoided. Strategic block placement is essential for navigating the terrain and accessing the key.
Additional elements include hidden bonuses and magic spells concealed within the levels, some inside blocks. These provide extra points or offer ways to handle enemies. The NES version differs from the arcade original, featuring 48 stages instead of 44 and some enemy alterations that reduce difficulty.
