RoboCop 2 Overview
RoboCop 2 adapts its 1990 film counterpart into a side-scrolling action platformer. The player directs the titular cyborg through a mission targeting the Nuke drug trade and its leader, Cain.
Progress through platforming stages, which include industrial and urban settings, depends on meeting dual objectives. A player must both destroy a quota of drug canisters and arrest a set number of foes, with advancement requiring at least sixty percent completion in each category. Falling short triggers a mandatory first-person shooting training stage; failure there forces a replay of the prior level, making the overall structure challenging.
Gameplay involves shooting or melee combat against numerous enemies, with collectible power-ups enhancing weapon capabilities or providing temporary invincibility and health restoration. Certain adversaries, signaled by audio and visual cues, can be arrested through contact. Some stages feature controllable jet platforms for navigation.
Hidden secrets are hinted at during level introductions. These can grant access to bonus platform areas for quickly destroying canisters, additional first-person shooting galleries, or puzzle sequences. Solving a sliding puzzle of Alex Murphy's face or deducing the combination to Cain's safe within a time limit rewards bonus lives and points.
The experience culminates in a multi-phase confrontation against the Cain/RoboCop 2 hybrid as the final boss.
