Crazy Climber Overview
Crazy Climber is a vertical climbing game where the player ascends a series of skyscrapers. The objective for each stage is to reach the rooftop where a helicopter provides transport to the next building. The climber can move up and sideways but cannot descend, creating a forward momentum.
The primary environmental threat comes from windows that open and close. A window closing on one hand causes a loss of grip, while a window closing on both hands results in a fatal fall. The player begins with three lives, with an extra life awarded at 30,000 points. Upon death, a new climber resumes from the point of the previous fall, though the specific hazard that caused it will not immediately repeat.
Various active hazards appear during the ascent. These include objects thrown from windows, condors that drop projectiles, and falling construction materials like girders and dumbbells. Animated signs, including electrical ones and falling game titles, also pose a threat. A notable obstacle is a King Kong figure that leaps across the building and slams against the windows. Most of these dangers are preceded by distinctive musical cues.
A time-based bonus system is in place. After each successful helicopter evacuation, a bonus score is awarded. This bonus decreases for every ten seconds spent climbing that particular building. Occasionally, a Lucky Balloon appears, which can carry the climber up approximately ten stories and also increases the player's bonus score.
