Lunar Lander Overview
Lunar Lander is a space exploration game structured around three distinct phases. The initial lift-off requires careful management of the shuttle's alignment and compressor levels to conserve fuel and escape Earth's gravity. A successful launch leads to a landing sequence on the moon, where a single rocket must be used for both thrust and directional control by rotating the craft, with meteorites posing an additional hazard.
Upon touching down on one of eight selectable sites, the gameplay shifts to a surface exploration phase. An astronaut uses a metal detector to locate five types of ore, guided by audio cues, while avoiding hostile robots. Drilling in the wrong spot may yield flowers that extend the air supply, a resource that is also drained by robot contact. The mission is challenging, as both fuel and oxygen are limited resources across all stages.
Points are awarded based on the difficulty of the chosen landing pad and any remaining fuel after descent. After completing the landing and exploration objectives for all eight lunar areas, the player advances to a subsequent, similar mission.
