Lucky Monkey Overview
Spanky's Quest, known as Lucky Monkey in Europe, is a puzzle platformer where the player controls a monkey named Spanky. The objective is to ascend a series of towers to escape.
Progression requires collecting keys, often held by enemies. Spanky uses a magic ball as his primary tool; throwing it can stun foes, while bouncing it increases its size. A larger ball will eventually explode, and the resulting fragments can eliminate enemies to obtain keys.
The structure involves climbing four initial towers, which can be selected in any order at the start. After these are completed, a fifth and final tower remains. This version for the Game Boy, published by Taito, shares a genre with titles like Bubble Bobble. It differs from its SNES counterpart, which features altered level designs and a fixed tower sequence.
