Atomic Punk Overview
Atomic Punk is a Game Boy entry in Hudson Soft's Bomberman franchise, known under different titles in other regions. Its structure is built around distinct single player and competitive multiplayer experiences.
The single player campaign offers two approaches. One mode follows the traditional Bomberman formula, while the other introduces a non-linear world map. This map allows players to select stages from nine areas in any sequence. Performance in these stages, judged by completion time and blocks destroyed, earns gold currency. This gold is spent at a shop on power-ups, referred to as panels, which provide advantages like extended explosion range or even revival after defeat. Players must strategically select which purchased panels to activate before attempting a new area.
Multiplayer is exclusively player versus player and features two rule sets. One variant limits each player to a single bomb with a small blast radius, but scatter panels throughout the arena to collect for upgrades. The other mode provides no such panels but grants each competitor the ability to place four bombs simultaneously with a much larger default explosion radius.
