Family Jockey Overview
Family Jockey is a horse racing title originally for the Nintendo Famicom, later ported to the Game Boy. The Game Boy version notably omitted the betting component present in the original release.
Players select a horse with distinct attributes such as speed and stamina. Races are viewed from above, and controlling the horse's pace involves managing a whip that boosts speed at the cost of energy. Courses feature different surfaces and occasional obstacles that require jumping.
Advancement requires finishing in the top four, with higher placements awarding more prize money. The game offers a standard racing mode and a separate "Family Game" mode that, in its original Famicom form, integrated wagering on the outcomes.
