Madden '95 Overview
Madden '95 represents the first appearance of the football series on the Game Boy. The game lacks official NFL licensing, resulting in generic team names, though its data reflects the real 1994 NFL season.
Players view the action from a top-down perspective as the field scrolls vertically. Control is managed with the D-pad for movement, while the two buttons handle context-sensitive actions like passing, tackling, or diving depending on whether the player is on offense or defense.
Available modes extend beyond standard exhibition matches and full season play. Special tournaments feature historical champion teams and all-time franchise selections, all of which are also accessible in exhibition play. Match duration is adjustable.
The strategic layer includes a substantial playbook with over 140 total offensive and defensive plays that can be mirrored. Additional management options cover audibles, limited substitutions, timeouts, and statistical tracking.
