Dr. Franken is a game where the player controls Franky, a creation of Dr Von Frankenbone, who must navigate a castle to rescue his love, Bitsy. She has been taken apart by other creations, and her pieces are scattered throughout the environment.
Gameplay involves moving through multiple levels while confronting hostile creatures, which can be dealt with using a shooting ability. The environment itself presents hazards such as trapdoors to jump over and objects that fall from above, making the experience challenging. To aid progress, lamps are necessary to illuminate dark dungeon areas, and power outlets can fully restore Franky's health.
