Catrap Overview
Catrap is a puzzle game where players navigate a series of single-screen stages. The objective involves eliminating all enemies within an enclosed castle environment to progress.
The core mechanics blend elements of pushing objects and strategic movement. Characters can push boulders and interact with terrain features like ladders and destructible ground. Enemies are defeated by moving horizontally into them, but vertical positioning offers no offensive advantage.
Players control one of two transformed cat-human characters, whose selection influences only the background music. In certain puzzles, both characters are available simultaneously, allowing the player to switch between them to solve more complex scenarios. A rewind function permits the reversal of moves, offering a way to correct mistakes.
Progress through the one hundred rounds is challenging, with difficulty escalating. The stages can be attempted in any sequence, allowing players to bypass puzzles and return later. An included editor supports the creation of custom puzzles, though these cannot be saved permanently.
