Pokemon Red Version is an international adaptation of the Japanese Pocket Monsters Akai. Its technical foundation, including graphical and audio updates, altered area designs, and revised programming, was taken from the separate Japanese release Pocket Monsters Ao.
To obtain all creatures for the Pokédex, trading with the companion Blue version is required, as each version contains a unique set of Pokémon.
