Tower of Souls Overview
Tower of Souls is a DOS game where the player directs the character Treeac through an isometric dungeon. The setting is the land of Chaybore, which relies on seven crystals now stolen by the demon Baalhathrok. Retrieving these crystals from the tower's seven floors forms the primary objective.
Navigation and combat are managed through mouse controls, with a cursor ball used to direct movement. Interacting with the environment involves a separate interface using the right mouse button to select actions from an on screen panel. Progression requires solving door puzzles, which can involve finding keys, inputting sequences, or a lockpicking mini game dependent on specific mouse movements.
Inventory management includes collecting herbs, potions, and magical equipment found while exploring. These components can be combined to create spells or potions, categorized for attack, defense, transformation, or item manipulation. The save system is challenging, as it requires the player to expend a piece of equipment at designated save points rather than allowing saves at any time.
