Spirou Overview
Based on a Franco-Belgian comic series, the DOS title Spirou is a side-scrolling platformer. The plot is set in motion in New York when the inventor Count of Champignac is kidnapped by Cyanida, a villainous robot with plans for global domination.
The player takes the role of the journalist Spirou, who pursues the kidnapper across more than a dozen varied environments. These locations range from urban settings like city rooftops and a subway to natural areas such as a swamp and jungle.
Control of the character includes standard platforming actions like jumping, climbing, and ducking. Running is achieved by holding a button, and a weapon becomes available partway through the adventure to deal with growing enemy numbers. The game's structure is challenging, offering only three lives with no continue feature, though a single password is provided after completing the initial half.
