Micro Machines 2 Overview
Micro Machines 2: Turbo Tournament is a top-down racing game featuring miniature vehicles. Races occur in scaled-down environments like a bathroom, a pool table, or a treehouse, where common household items act as track obstacles.
Players choose a character, though their statistics only influence computer-controlled opponents. The game offers two primary modes. In the challenge mode, progression requires finishing first or second against three rivals; achieving a fast lap time on earlier tracks can grant an automatic victory. Consecutive wins unlock a bonus round to earn extra lives. The head-to-head mode awards points by pulling far enough ahead to leave opponents off-screen, with a win determined by collecting a majority of eight colored lights.
Both modes provide players with three lives. The vehicle roster expands from the previous game, now including options like powerboats and helicopters. Platform-specific features exist: the CD-ROM edition adds a track editor and CD-audio music, while the Mega Drive version supports four-player play through a special cartridge.
