Formula One Grand Prix Overview
World Circuit is a racing simulation based on the 1991 Formula 1 season, though it uses fictionalized names for its 18 teams and 35 drivers. The game encompasses all 16 circuits from that year's calendar.
Players can engage with these tracks through several modes, including a full championship. The simulation offers extensive car tuning, with adjustments to gear ratios, brake balance, downforce, and tires available during pit stops. To assist newcomers, several driving aids can be enabled, such as automatic braking, suggested gear indicators, and even an indestructibility option, making the experience more fair for beginners.
Its 3D presentation includes details like functional rear-view mirrors and weather effects. Rain reduces traction and creates a fogging effect when driving through spray from other cars. Collisions result in visible damage, like bent wings, and can scatter debris on the track. Race replays can be viewed from multiple camera angles.
Originally a solo experience on PC, a later update added modem support for multiplayer. The Amiga version featured local hotseat multiplayer from its release.
