Lords of the Realm Overview
Lords of the Realm is a strategy game set in 1268 England, where the player competes against five other lords to seize the vacant throne. Success requires managing a feudal economy and conducting military campaigns.
Players oversee a population of serfs, whose contentment and sustenance must be maintained. These serfs are allocated to various duties, which include agricultural production, construction projects, and raising military forces.
Military conflict occurs on two levels: tactical battles on open land and the sieging of fortifications. Players can design their own castles or construct them from historical plans, then attack rival holdings. The overall objective is the conquest of all competing lords to unify the kingdom, a process that is challenging as it integrates economic management with detailed warfare.
