Liero Overview

Liero is a real time combat game where two players face off in a shared underground environment. It draws mechanical inspiration from titles like MoleZ and Tunneler, presenting a fast paced alternative to the turn based structure of games like Worms.

Combat revolves around a personal arsenal selected before a match begins, with each player choosing five tools from a pool of forty. This arsenal can include anything from basic firearms to explosives like bazookas and cluster bombs, referred to in game as the chiquita bomb. All weapons have unlimited ammunition but require reloading after their clip is emptied, a process that leaves the player vulnerable. More potent weapons typically demand reloading more frequently, sometimes after each shot, making their use a challenging tactical decision.

Movement and positioning are key, as players can dig through soft terrain, leap, and use ninja ropes for traversal. The objective is to locate and eliminate the opponent, with successful hits resulting in exaggerated blood effects. During play, weapon crates can be collected, which will immediately replace the weapon currently equipped in the player's active slot.
