Eco Phantoms Overview
Eco Phantoms is a hybrid DOS game combining exploration, combat, and puzzle solving. The player assumes the role of a returning spacefarer who finds Earth under assault by alien forces known as the Eco Phantoms.
The setting involves a despoiled planet, its resources being extracted by a vast mothership. Gameplay requires piloting a stolen alien zeppelin through three surface domes, which function as pseudo 3D environments. Objectives within these areas include gathering resources, rescuing prisoners, collecting data spheres, and learning to operate the craft.
Success in these tasks allows progression to the alien mothership for a final confrontation. The core mission is to reprogram the central computer to reverse the ecological damage and restore the planet. The game integrates arcade sequences and action based combat with its exploratory and puzzle elements, making for a challenging experience.
