Blake Stone: Aliens of Gold Overview
Blake Stone: Aliens of Gold is a first-person shooter where players control a secret agent opposing the plans of Dr. Pyrus Goldfire. The antagonist uses genetic engineering and vast resources to create a mutant army for global conquest.
Levels are structured around progressing through a headquarters and other installations, with the core objective often involving securing keycards to access elevators. The journey is challenging, as players face not only standard guards but also genetic mutants and direct, fleeting attacks from Dr. Goldfire himself. The campaign is divided into multi-level chapters, each concluding with the villain's escape to a new location.
The game utilizes an engine that provides gameplay familiar to the genre, while introducing specific features. These include weapons that allow for stealthy eliminations, a heads-up display that relays alert messages, and interactive elements like vending machines that restore health using tokens collected from foes. An in-game automap and statistics tracking are provided. Additionally, non-hostile characters are present in the environment; interacting with them can yield useful information or items, though they can be harmed by the player's fire.
